The first budget book since the rebrand was a critical point for introducing councilors to the new visual identity of Milton in action. The budget book presents a host of unique challenges, such as accessibility issues, collaboration obstacles, strict timelines, and representing each department with limited resources.
The cover was a collage of a complete community, the theme of Milton’s development, encircled within the brand icon. Each of the images represents a critical element to the plan. Photography was used for section dividers, and I was personally sent to photograph events to meet timelines.
Infographics were developed to help readers understand the overview of the budget at a glance. The remaining 200+ pages were text and chart heavy, so distilling the information was crucial for understanding key takeaways.
The book was widely successful, and several reviewers remarked it was a shame to mark up this year’s budget book. It will be used as the template moving forward.
